A day after quitting as Uttarakhand coach citing interference and bias in selection, former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer dismissed allegations of religion-based selections levelled against him by a Cricket Association of Uttarakhand official. In a media a report, Cricket Association of Uttarakhand secretary Mahim Verma had claimed he favoured Muslim players. Rubbishing the allegation, Jaffer said that he was very hurt by the shocking turn of events.

Even since coming to the fore as precious talent in school cricket, Mumbai batsman Prithvi Shaw has been touted as the next Sachin Tendulkar. He led India to the U-19 World Cup win in 2018. In the same year, he cracked a sparkling Test century on debut.

After 24 years on the domestic circuit, former India opener Wasim Jaffer finally decided to hang up his boots recently. While he broke record after record in Ranji Trophy, Jaffer couldn't quite make that comeback into the Indian team after being dropped in 2008. As a result, his international career could not realise its complete potential.
